Shopify: Add Third-party Carrier-calculated Shipping Rates

Do you want to add your own third-party carrier-calculated shipping rates instead of letting Shopify manage the shipping process? Follow these simple steps.

What are Shopify third-party carrier-calculated shipping rates?

A third-party shipping service calculates shipping prices depending on the details of the order during checkout. This allows you to charge your clients the exact price that a shipping provider, such as UPS, DHL, or FedEx, will charge you for a mailing label when you order one.

Shopify allows the store owners to add their own shipping carrier to the Shopify store. Here is how to do it.

Enable third-party carrier-calculated shipping rates to Shopify

There are 3 ways to add real-time carrier calculated shipping to your Shopify account.

Upgrade Shopify plans

If you are using Basic or Standard, consider upgrading to Advanced or Shopify Plus. The third-party carrier-calculated shipping rates feature is available natively in these plans. Still, it’s not recommended due for small businesses owners.

Pay for carrier-calculated shipping feature

At a cost of $20 for each billing cycle, you can add real-time carrier-determined shipping to an existing subscription. This means adding the feature to one of these other plans will increase your monthly subscription rate by $20.

For example, if you use the Basic plan, the cost per bill cycle would be $29 for Basic and $20 for real-time carrier calculated shipping, totaling $49 per payment cycle.

Pre-pay your subscription annually

Shopify will add the feature to your existing Shopify plan for free if you agree to annual (instead of monthly) billing.

After you have upgrade plans or choose to pay for the feature, contact Shopify supportย to enable it in your store.ย
